Women's Philanthropy United Luncheon

Joan Rivers, the world renowned comedienne, will be the featured speaker at the Women’s Philanthropy annual United Luncheon of the UJC/Jewish Federation of Las Vegas.  This “not-to-be-missed” event will take place in the stylish Latour Ballroom at the Wynn Las Vegas on Thursday, February 7, 2008.

Joan Rivers is a Tony-nominated actress, best-selling author; Emmy Award-winning television talk-show host, playwright, screenwriter, motion picture director, columnist, lecturer, syndicated radio host, jewelry designer and cosmetic company entrepreneur, and red-carpet fashion laureate; businesswoman and, most importantly to her, mother and grandmother.  She is exhausted!

In addition to Ms. Rivers, the luncheon will feature gift opportunity drawings and silent auction as well as a fabulous fashion show generously hosted by the Wynn Esplanade Shops.  Prominent members of the Las Vegas community will be modeling the latest fashions.

Alyssa Russo and Shevy Shalev are this year’s innovative and spirited Co-Chairs. They have already captured the attention of the Las Vegas community with their early planning for this event.   Alyssa and Shevy feel that “Ms. Rivers is a perfect match between the women of Las Vegas and the spirit of the day.  She will bring her humor and her fashion sense to the already savvy occasion.”

Women’s Philanthropy Chairwoman, Heidi Sarno Straus, stated, “Joan’s charisma will enchant the women!  We are already anticipating record-breaking attendance at this year’s United Luncheon.  We are thrilled that we are able to say Thank You to the women for their involvement this way.  This is also a fantastic opportunity to keep everyone informed of the vital and essential work we do.”

The United Luncheon is part of United Jewish Community’s “Dollar-A-Day” initiative and is open to all women who pledge a minimum gift of $365 to the 2008 Annual Campaign.  To make your pledge for the United Luncheon, call Diane at 732-0556.
